Insurance Specialist (Part-Time)

Castle Rock Medical Center is looking for a Part-Time Insurance Specialist to join the team. The typical hours of this position are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday (25 hours per week).

Summary of Job:

The Insurance Specialist is the welcoming “face” of the office in person and on the phone.  This position requires staff to be not only technically proficient but also welcoming and friendly. The Insurance Specialist sets the tone for the office with new patients. This position requires timely, effective communication regarding required registration information and insurance verification from all new patients.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Call and verify benefits, eligibility and network status for new patients.
  • Register new patients.
  • Notify patient of network status with their insurance
  • Obtain pre-authorization with insurance company and provide CPT code for determination of authorization.
  • Fax necessary information to insurance company.
  • Must document in patients’ charts all communication with insurance company & patients.
  • Provides estimates for patients who are self-pay.
  • Resolves all customer requests, inquiries, and concerns in an expedient and respectful manner.
  • Take calls and/or fills in for scheduling.
  • Assist with billing alerts.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required (associate degree preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Phlebotomist (As-Needed)

Castle Rock Medical Center is looking for an as-needed (PRN) Phlebotomist to join the team.

Summary of Job:

Collects blood via venipuncture, hell stick, or fingerstick and checks quality of specimens from patients. Maintains all supplies for collection are fully stocked. Processes specimens and prepares them for testing. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, physicians, nursing staff, laboratory staff, and the public according to the standards of Aidet adopted by Castle Rock Hospital District.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Specimen collection and insuring patients follow the correct pre-testing instruction for the test ordered.
  • Checks patient orders and billing requisition to assure proper identification of patient, Icd-10, and provider information to process correctly.
  • Utilizes EMR, LIS, Word, Excel as pertains to the job.
  • Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures on pediatric to geriatric patients.  Identifies and labels specimens with correct protocol of name, DOB, time, date, and initials.
  • Perform venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe, butterfly techniques, and capillary puncture using finger stick techniques.
  • Instructs patients on urine collection, stool collection, and other site collection procedures.
  • Allocates 24-hour urine specimens, blood samples for reference lab testing and in-house testing.
  • Performs urine dipstick tests and CLIA waived testing.
  • Cleans equipment, instruments, and work area throughout and at the end of shift.
  • Inventories supplies for phlebotomy and send out tests and reports any deficiency in supply to the ordering personnel.
  • Performs proficiency surveys and participates in continuing education as necessary to maintain certification.
  • Performs DOT/NDOT drug testing alcohol testing per standards set forth by the Department of Transportation and other government regulations.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality regulated by the HIPPA policy.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary, including but not limited to faxing results, filing, etc.

Physical Demands/Hazards:

  • Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, and standing required for extended periods of time.

Summary of Job:

This job title is certified through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). This person is required to perform various manual and automated routine only test procedures in large volume in chemistry, hematology, immunology, serology, microbiology and/or urinalysis. Evaluates and interprets the results which are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by ordering providers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collects patient specimens.
  • Works as phlebotomist and processor.
  • Performs tests in the following departments: biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology, immunology, urinalysis, etc.
  • Communicates test results in the EMR or by fax to ordering physician and/or treating healthcare provider.
  • Follows the AIDET communication adopted by this institution.
  • Enters data into the Lab. Information System and control monitoring websites.
  • Calibrates and maintains all maintenance duties on equipment.
  • Assists in the daily and monthly quality control procedures.
  • Decontaminates area throughout the day and at the end of shift.
  • Disposes of biohazard bi products properly according to OSHA.
  • Files necessary data and paperwork and calls critical results to the provider.

  • Medical Lab Tech: The technician must have a minimum of an associate degree and have completed a NAACLS program or completion of a 50-week military lab tech training program through ASCP. Technicians must be accredited and must maintain accreditation as a medical laboratory technician, with ASCP. Technicians must be approved in Wyoming by State Statute.
  • Medical Lab Scientist: This person must have a B.S. degree in an accredited medical technology program which includes one year of training in a school of medical technology approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Technologists must be registered and must maintain registry as a medical technologist with A.S.C.P. Board Registry. Technologists must meet all requirements of Wyoming State Statutes.
